Blazing Bulls

In the heart of Tultepec, a small town on the fringes of Mexico City, the air thrums with anticipation. The annual fireworks festival is in full swing, and the night is alive with the crackle of rockets and the roar of steel bulls, dressed in vivid paper armor. Sparks fly like mischievous fireflies, painting the dark sky with chaotic brilliance.

In the midst of it all, a young man sprints for his life, his silhouette illuminated by the fiery onslaught of a blazing bull behind him. The beast charges, belching cardboard rockets that streak through the crowd like untamed comets. He dives to the side just as a streak of sparks whistles past his ear, his laughter mingling with shouts and cheers.

The festival is not for the faint of heart, but here in Tultepec, it’s a rite of courage—a dance with danger beneath a sky that burns.
