Using the example of a 98-year-old woman, I would like to show the meaning of home and the values associated with it. What is home for a person who has had to leave her home several times? Our lives leave footprints. They are imprinted in our memories, but above all on our faces. The lines of life mark our wrinkles. Experiences and memories make us who we are. Leading role: Marie Semrau, a Russian-German, born in 1926 in the Volga region. Marie was 15 years old when the Second World War broke out. At the age of 16, she was deported to Berlin to work and remained there until the end of the war. Marie's mother had taught her to sew, and in Berlin she attended evening classes and made her first dress from men's pants she found on the street. There is a photo of this dress. When I asked Marie what color the dress was, she immediately replied: “Grey... with dark gray stripes”. From then on, Marie always had a sewing machine with her. Sewing ensured her survival in life. When I asked her what her home looked like, she said: “Ukraine, her parents' house, where she was born and grew up”. When I asked her what the best time of her life was, she replied: “The time in Berlin”. Despite the war. She was young.... Marie had a job, her best friend and a dream for the future.
