The thief's car

The photo shows the front of a rusty vintage car fallen into disuse. "The thief’s car" has a curious history behind it. A thief was fleeing with the loot in the area of Aus (Southern Namibia) pursued by a police patrol thief is forced to drop the theft. This story happened in the 1950s (spoken testimony). The car stayed there to remember the story. The combination between old car and desert landscape of Namibia gives the image a retrò aura.

The image captures the generational tradition where the youth evolve into tenders of the land in honor of their ancestral roots. The innocence ephemeral, it ripens into the weight of duty.
