The Thousand Daf and Thousand Colors of Palangan Ceremony

This photo captures the grand ceremony of the “Thousand Daf” in the village of Palangan in the Kurdistan province of Iran. This traditional ceremony is a mystical, festive, and ritualistic event accompanied by the sound of numerous dafs and group voices. Local people gather on the rooftops and terraces of stone houses in colorful local costumes and create a spiritual and energetic atmosphere with the harmonious playing of dafs.

Known for its unique stepped architecture, the village of Palangan, with its surrounding mountains, provides an extraordinary setting for this spiritual event. The sunlight shining on the golden dafs gives the photo a magical and special feel, showing a moment of unity and cultural beauty of this region. The ceremony is often held to honor mystical music and commemorate the traditional rituals of the region.
