DIET COKE & INSTAMATIC

I discovered this "still life" hidden in the back room, a kind of "junk room", of a bookstore in the Art Deco district of Tiong Bahru in Singapore.

The bookshop specialises in unusual books that are hard to find in regular bookshops.
It was a magical moment for me when I saw "my" old Instamatic sitting there with the Diet Coke bottles.
It was immediately clear to me that there had to be a connection between Diet Coke and Instamatic cameras.

Kodak's Instamatic camera was launched in 1963, almost at the same time as Diet Coke.
Both products were very popular in the 1960s and 1970s, especially the Instamatic.

Diet Coke still exists, but the Instamatic was discontinued in 1988.
